Last night Neil and his group had SIX Stewart Island brown kiwi during a walk with Matt Jones (who also works for Ulva’s Guided Walks www.ulva.co.nz and they do kiwi spotting tours). Now that is great, but it gets better if you are a seabird fan… Neil writes this from today’s Stewart Island pelagic…
Wrybill Tours’ second Stewart Island Pelagic of the season, led by Neil Robertson and Matt Jones, was rewarded with superb close and prolonged views of a Pink-footed Shearwater, just east of Wreck Reef this afternoon. A very large and robust shearwater, it spent a good 10-15 minutes off the stern of the boat, and was quite happy to ‘mix it’ with the White-capped and Salvins Albatross to get to the blue cod frames Matt was chucking in to the water.
Epic! Below are some photos Matt took. Well done guys!
