Neil and his group are approaching the final day of the tour. Yesterday they left Stewart Island and managed to find some great Otago shags, and excellent yellow-eyed penguins during the afternoon. Also a few Hooker’s sea lions along the coast. Today they headed inland again and found a pair of black stilt, with black-fronted terns, banded dotterel and black-billed gull. The black stilt must have been feeling in the mood, as the mated in front of the group! More black stilts we cried! Not a bad way to finish the tour, with tomorrow the drive to Christchurch and farewell. Sounds like they had an amazing tour with Neil at the helm!
